Nice to meet you
I am an artist who has had several lives and passions.
I am a mom first, and I am a dedicated education professional; but making art and connecting with nature and animals have sustained me through the best and most challenging of times.
Pet portraits
My own pets – cats, dogs, birds, rabbits – have inspired me to paint from my heart. I easily fall in love with these precious subjects, whether they are part of my own family or yours.
Each line, color, and shape is applied to my canvas with the same tenderness that we feel toward these treasured family members.
It gives me endless pleasure to paint other people’s pets. I feel so fortunate to be able to produce and share my works of art with you.
Painting hallmarks
My pet portraits capture the pet’s likeness and spirit. You should feel like you are with your pet when viewing the painting.
I enjoy incorporating various components (such as toys, furnishings, flora) into my pet portraits, but simple works for me, too!
Strong composition and color choices are key elements of my paintings. Your pet is the focal point, but every inch of the canvas has interest and beauty.
Life as an artist
I drew with devotion and joy from a very young age.
In college I studied drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history.
Post-college, I took art classes at the Art Students League (NYC), Fleisher Art Memorial, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Main Line Art Center, Woodmere Art Museum, Wayne Art Center.
Education
Haverford College B.A. in Psychology, with a Fine Arts minor
University of Pennsylvania MEd, with a Reading Specialist certification
Post-Masters Certificate in English as a Second Language
Career path
After working with social service organizations, I raised my son and then became a teacher, specializing in literacy learning for children with reading struggles.
I retired from full-time teaching in 2022, and I began accepting painting commissions.
